Rhododendron canescens | Mountain Azalea

$0.00

DESCRIPTION
Rhododendron canescens, is a deciduous shrub with an open, graceful framework and soft hairy leaves. In early spring, March through April, it bears fragrant, slender-tubed blooms in clusters along the stems, ranging from pale pink to deeper rose and only occasionally white. Flowers often open just before or as the leaves unfurl, and the scent carries on mild days.

Native to the southeastern United States, it grows along streams, swamp margins, and moist woods. After flowering it forms seed capsules, and it can spread by suckering to create colonies. The airy habit and scented spring display suit woodland edges, naturalistic plantings, and mixed shrub borders.
