DESCRIPTION
Aethionema grandiflorum forms low, spreading mats of blue-green, narrow leaves that create a tidy evergreen cushion. In early to mid spring, loose clusters of soft rose-pink flowers appear above the foliage, each bloom lightly scented and held on slender stems, creating a gentle haze of color.

Native to rocky regions of Turkey and nearby western Asia, this species has long been grown in alpine gardens. It suits rock gardens, gravel beds, edging, and containers, where its compact habit and long spring display soften hard surfaces and provide lasting seasonal interest, and remains attractive beyond flowering with neat foliage texture in sunny sites.
